Surveillance data on COVID-19 among people who live in Long-Term Care Facilities (European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control, ECDC)

In February 2021, the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) started collecting aggregate national surveillance data from European Union/European Economic Area (EU/EEA) countries, regarding COVID-19 among people who live in long-term care facilities. These data are displayed within the weekly country overviews (URL: https://www.ecdc.europa.eu/en/covid-19/country-overviews), alongside other nationally-supplied COVID-19 data. As of 15 April, reports regarding long-term care facilities are available for nine countries (Cyprus, Denmark, France, Ireland, Lithuania, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Slovenia and Spain).

A separate ECDC webpage (URL: https://www.ecdc.europa.eu/en/all-topics-z/coronavirus/threats-and-outbreaks/covid-19/prevention-and-control/LTCF-data) publishes nationally-verified COVID-19 data regarding long-term care facilities. These were contained in national surveillance reports and/or provided directly by national authorities in EU/EEA countries. The webpage also contains a table summarising the surveillance attributes of these national systems. These include, for example, a description of the subsets of cases, and fatal cases, that are reported in national outputs.

All ECDC outputs and resources regarding COVID-19 in long-term care facilities are available from https://www.ecdc.europa.eu/en/all-topics-z/coronavirus/threats-and-outbreaks/covid-19/prevention-and-control/LTCF
