SCADR Webinar announcement: COVID-19 and Care Homes. Advances in Administrative Data Research during the pandemic (Scotland)

Online Event, Thursday 19th November, 13:00 – 14.30 GMT

Hosted by the Scottish Centre for Administrative Data Research (SCADR), this online seminar will focus on the latest research being undertaken to better understand Scotland’s care home population during the pandemic.

COVID-19 has had far-ranging impacts on society, particularly within the care home population, where almost half of all Scottish deaths involving the disease occurred.

This seminar will examine emerging administrative data research in Scotland on the effect of the pandemic on care homes and the innovative methods being developed to help better identify and understand this population, including showcasing the potential of using unique property reference numbers (UPRN).

Our expert panel will also discuss Scotland’s recent announcement to review adult social care and contribute to wider debate about data quality and collection in the care sector.

The event will be chaired by Dr Iain Atherton, Health and Social Care Research Lead at SCADR, with presentations including:

  • Addressing people in Scotland: The value of geography for administrative data analysis (Professor Chris Dibben, Director of SCADR, University of Edinburgh)
  • Care Home Addresses: Why are they so hard to identify? (Dr Jenni Burton, Clinical Lecturer, University of Glasgow)
  • Mortality in Scotland March – July 2020: A focus on care homes (Dr David Henderson, SCADR Research Fellow, Edinburgh Napier University)
  • Panel Discussion

Open to all those interested in data linkage methods and social care. Please register via Eventbrite.
