Reducing stigma related to COVID-19 (CDC, United States)

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is the national public health institute in the United States.  The CDC has produced advice on how to reduce stigma against individuals and communities in relation to COVID-19, including:

  • Protect confidentiality for those accessing care for COVID-19
  • Speak out against behaviours and language that stigmatises others
  • Use care when posting to ensure images are not reinforcing stereotypes
  • Interact with individuals and groups that may be stigmatised
